You'll never look at food the same way again after seeing this new documentary on the American food industry, a powerful condemnation of big business, big agriculture, and big stomachs that has taken U.S. audiences by storm. Aided by noted experts Michael Pollan (The Omnivore's Dilemma) and Eric Schlosser (Fast Food Nation), director Robert Kenner blows the lid off the "farm to fork" mega-businesses, exposing not only the brutal images of highly mechanized food slaughter but also the just-as-brutal industry behind it. Already notorious in the United States (where it has triggered heated dialogues and inspired citizens and politicians alike), Food, Inc. may be scarier than any recent horror film, but fortunately, it doesn't present a doomsday scenario. Its urgent central point is that consumers can, and should, make a difference. Alarming, inspirational, and utterly essential, Food, Inc. isn't a film for vegetarians, vegans, or all-organic foodies; it's for anyone who eats. -Jason Sanders
