Shot at a handful of breathtaking locations around New Zealand, the environmental documentary Earth Whisperers Mother Earth focuses on ten visionaries who set out to prove that a shift in consciousness can have a healing effect on our environment. Though the figures profiled come from different walks of life, the common thread connecting them is a spiritual connection to, and absolute reverence for, Papatuanuku, or Mother Earth. Some of the stories describe pure conservation, including successful efforts in the 1970s and 1980s to save lakes and forests from destruction by logging companies. Others speak of gathering medicinal herbs, the preservation of native seed, the creation of good fertile soil, and the restoration and regeneration of forests. Director Kathleen Gallagher has created a quiet, beautiful film that is also a powerful demonstration of what can be achieved through belief, dedication, and passion for our world.
