Julianne Moore and Gérard Depardieu
Gifted American actress Julianne Moore and
French icon Gérard Depardieu did not actually meet on the red
carpet of the Abu Dhabi film Festival this year; cinematically
speaking, however, their paths did cross: in 2009, Moore acted in
Chloe, by Canadian
director Atom Egoyan. The film stars Moore as a Toronto
gynecologist who suspects her professor husband (Liam Neeson) of
cheating on her. She hires an up-market call girl (rising star
Amanda Seyfried) to put the man's fidelity to the test. Chloe happens to be a
remake of French director Anne Fontaine's 2003 drama Nathalie. The latter
starred Emmanuelle Béart in the title role, Fanny Ardant as the
suspicious wife, and none other than Depardieu as the presumably
faulty husband. The actor's rugged demeanor fitted the role
perfectly.
