Shooting Star
Photographer Fabrice Dall'anese made a big splash at this year's
ADFF with his uniquely evocative portraits of the stars and
filmmakers who visited the Festival. The striking shots of star
Adrian Brody holding a falcon were perhaps the most-talked about of
a number of thoughtful and creative photos of the Festival's guests
including Uma Thurman, Gérard Depardieu, Om Puri, designer Ozwald
Boateng, Clive Owen and Iranian auteur Abbas Kiarostami.
Dall'Anese, who is half-French and
half-Italian, began his career as an entertainment lawyer because
he wanted to work closely with the film industry. But when he
realized it would be just another law job, he began putting more
energy into his hobby, photography. Given a chance to take on an
underwater photo project in the Caribbean, he threw caution to the
wind and has not looked back since. "I left as a lawyer on holiday
and came back an aspiring photographer." He understood quickly that
he needed to specialize, so he decided to combine his photographic
work with his other great passion, cinema. Since then he has worked
for the Venice, Rome and Cannes Film Festivals in addition to his
high-profile work for GQ, Elle and Vanity
Fair.
