Abu Dhabi Theater
In its fifth edition in 2011, the Abu
Dhabi Film Festival is pleased to return to Abu Dhabi Theater,
which will host several of the Festival's gala screenings this
year. At the foot of the city's massive flagpole on the breakwater,
Abu Dhabi Theater (Qasr Al Amwaj) is a distinctive landmark that
offers visitors an excellent venue to enjoy great cinema, as well
as providing a spectacular view of the Corniche.
This year, Abu Dhabi Theater hosts the world premieres of
The Double (October 15), Asma'a (October 17) and
Sea Shadow (October 19). The venue also hosts red-carpet
excitement and gala screenings of such films as Chicken With
Plums (October 14), The Ides of March (October 14),
The Moth Diaries (October 16), 18 Days (October
18), Elena (October 20) and Trishna (October
20)
The building itself is a beautiful tribute to classic Arabic
architecture and screenings here are truly special occasions, as
the theater is not normally open to the public. The Festival's free
shuttle service is available to take patrons to and from the other
ADFF venues at Marina Mall and Fairmont Bab Al Bahr.
