ADFF 2014 celebrates the success of Emirati Filmmakers with its opening night film From A to B
As Arab and International stars graced the red carpet of this year’s ADFF, the festival opened its 8th edition with Ali Mostafa’s From A to B the highly anticipated film by the Emirati filmmaker following his successful debut the City of Life in 2009.
The ceremony was initiated with a video about Abu Dhabi’s progress and future developments followed by Ali Al Jabri’s speech where he welcomed all the attendees and guests and talked about how the festival has developed and grown over the years, pointing out that what is really important for a festival, is not just its success but to be able to achieve that over and over again.
This was later followed by the introduction of this year’s juries among them the highly talented Erfan Khan, the president of the Narrative Film Competition, Anup Singh the director of Quissa (2013) as a jury member for the New Horizon competition as well as many other talented filmmakers and members of the film industry. A speech was also given by one of Image Nation’s executives, Michael Garin , who spoke about the company’s role in producing the opening night film From A to B and invited the public to go and see the film, which is being released in January next year.
From A to B is a film about childhood friends who have grown apart and take a road trip from Abu Dhabi to Beirut in memory of a lost friend; it’s a story about friendship and keeping promises.
ADFF promises a magnificent line up of films from all around the world. It is one of Abu Dhabi’s events that should not be missed.
