Highlights: Day 5 of ADFF 2014
In day 5, SANAD funded veteran Egyptian filmmaker Ibrahim El-Batout’s EL OTT had its World Premiere Emirates Palace. The film’s director El Batout, actors Amr Waked, Sara Shaheen and Farouky El-Fishawy as well as producers graced the event.
Also during the day, Jordanian director Naji Abu Nowar was presented the Variety Arab Filmmaker of the Year Award at Emirates Palace.
As part of the ‘ADFF Talks Film’ programme, a panel discussion titled ‘The Soul Yearns for a Home – Film Making from Arab Diaspora’ happened at Emirates Palace where directors Abderrahmane Sissako, Hisham Zaman and Karim Traidia discussed the challenges they faced, moderated by ADFF director of Arab programme Intishal Al-Timimi.
Another panel at Emirates Palace titled ‘Point of View: Objective Truth or Personal Perspectives in Documentary Filmmaking’ discussed if documentary filmmakers are capable of objectivity when telling stories.
