In Her Place: A Gripping Tale of Human Emotions and Desires
In "In Her Place" Albert Shin invites us to witness the life-changing moments of the characters of his deliberately paced story. An affluent city couple arrive at a farm in a rural village in South Korea. They come to meet a young pregnant girl and her mother. The husband and wife want to adopt the young girl’s baby and as part of their agreement, the wife will stay at the farm till the baby is safely delivered.
The three women learn to live under the same roof and get used to each other’s presence. Both the mother of the pregnant girl and the wife are eager to make the arrangement work. The wife wants to make sure the girl is exercising and eating right, while the mother is keen on making her guest comfortable in her house.After all, they are the solution to each other’s problems. However, their plan is threatened when the father of the unborn child appears in their lives again, and as a result major secrets are revealed, secrets that might explain the young girl’s strange behavior at times.
The talented director Shin shines a light on human desires and gripping emotions in a brilliant and intimate way. The Korean drama In Her Place should not be missed at ADFF.
