Project Logline:

The story of "Waiting bench" is one of five filmmakers, a former leader of the Sudanese television and an activist aged of 80 years old and big movie buff, all members of the "Sudanese Film Group." It is the story of their 42 years of film attempts, and this relentless hope that bind them forever. The film tells their past and present entrenched in social and political life in Sudan.


Suhaib Gesmalbari Mustafa was born in Sudan. He studied cinema in France where he learnt French and pursued an education in cinema history, criticism and directing. In parallel, he worked as a freelancer for Al Jazeera, France 24 and since 2011 for a new TV channel, focused on African news, Al Qarra. As a journalist and cameraman he gained expertise in areas of graphic design, special effects, and broadcasting. Nevertheless, his main focus remains the true Cinema. He has completed short narrative films and is developing Waiting Bench a documentary project about his beloved country Sudan and about its passion for cinema.
